Early Reviews:

“I can’t put into words how much this book touched me. You can feel God’s power while reading it. It is so much more than a wonderful christian fiction book; it will lift you up and put hope back in your heart. It is full of bible verses and wonderful quotes. My favorite two were ” No matter how flawed we think we are or what knocks we’ve taken from life, God’s hands can fashion us and make us beautiful and whole again. If we let Him.” and “You’re the artist and the potter; I’m the canvas and the clay. And I know You’re not finished with me, no You’re not finished with me yet.” This book is definitely a Must Read!” ~Ann

Book 21, Reclaiming Charity, of the Potter’s House Books by Marion Ueckermann is now available to read!

Nineteen months ago, I met Juliette Duncan online when she contacted me asking if I’d be interested in joining The Potter’s House Books series. I jumped at the opportunity; the project sounded awesome!

The first Potter’s House book—Juliette’s—was released six months later. And now, here we are, the final book in this series releasing thirteen months after seven awesome authors started putting out twenty-one stories of hope, redemption, and second chances into readers’ hands.

It’s been quite a ride, and many times on my second and third books (The Potter’s House books 14 and 21), I thought I might not make my deadline due to one thing or another—mostly due to my stories being way longer than I’d anticipated, so longer writing time, longer editing time. But, by the grace of God, I made my publishing deadline with each story.

I really enjoyed writing Restoring Faith, Recovering Hope, and finally, Reclaiming Charity, and as one early reader, Becky Smith, put it…“With the stroke of her pen, Marion has created another masterpiece, where Charity may indeed be the greatest!”

I won’t lie to you, all three books were challenging to write, each dealing with a marriage in crisis of the three Peterson siblings—Faith (Young) in Restoring Faith, Tyler in Recovering Hope, and Brody in Reclaiming Charity.

Charles and Faith Young’s marriage has lost its luster in Restoring Faith, and both face the suspicion and temptation of an affair. Recovering Hope has Tyler and Hope fighting the despair of loss and the monster of depression. And in Reclaiming Charity, sixteen-year-old Charity struggles with her frequent emotive arguments of her parents—Brody and Madison—which arise mostly out of Brody’s insecurities.

It is my prayer that each of my stories will touch reader’s hearts, and I believe from the reviews received so far, that they are.

  • Restoring Faith: “I was very impressed with the real life problems this story faces head on. A marriage grown dim by life and time, temptations thrown in for good measure, and the all-encompassing healing power of Faith and God. I think this was a well written journey through what a marriage can become if not nurtured and restored. The author did a tremendous job of pulling me in and keeping my interest while describing events that were very realistic and lifelike.” ~ Joelle Teague

(Restoring Faith took third place in the Inspirational Short category of the 2018 International Digital Awards contest sponsored run by Oklahoma Romance Writers of America.)

  • Recovering Hope: “I want to thank the author, Marion Ueckermann, she has a beautiful way of blending words together. This story was well written and flowed smoothly, so smooth that at the end my heart was tumbling all over the place. I cried throughout the book, it touched my heart so deeply, that I know it will stay with me for a long time. One question brought out in this story is, Can you trust God with your pain? Can you say, like Job, ‘though he slay me, yet will I hope in him?’ The most important lesson I learned is to find my hope in God and His unending love for me.” ~ Marylin Furumasu, MF Literary Works
  • Reclaiming Charity: “This is a true masterpiece, woven with threads of grace, forgiveness, trust, enduring faith, and God’s relentless love towards us! It tackles the difficult and deep issues of fear, rejection, abandonment, and feelings of being unworthy of God’s love. Deeply moving, with broad strokes of trusting in the skill of the Master to finish the canvas of our lives, and brushed with the gold thread of hope that He will truly remake the messy situations into a good and beautiful picture.” ~ Becky Smith

I will miss being a part of this series but am so glad for the stories it produced from me.

And now there remain faith, hope, and charity, these three: but the greatest of these is charity.

Some artworks appear chaotic, but it all depends on the eye of the beholder.

Brody and Madison Peterson have the picture-perfect marriage. Or so it seems. But their teenage daughter Charity knows only too well that that’s not the case. Frequent emotive arguments—the bane of artistic temperaments—have Charity pouring out her heartache and fears in her prayer journal.

When Madison makes a career choice that doesn’t fit in with her husband’s plans for their lives or their art gallery, disaster looms. The end of their marriage and a bitter custody battle over Charity threatens.

What will it take for the Master Artist to heal old wounds and transform their broken marriage into a magnificent masterpiece? Could Charity’s journal be enough to make Brody and Madison realize their folly and reclaim their love?

Happy Release Day, Dawn of Mercy, by Kristen M. Fraser

Dawn of Mercy’ originally started out as a completely different story (one involving a fully completed first draft, mind you.) But I was intrigued by circumstances involving some acquaintances of ours, and I felt God telling me to shelve my original story for another day. Thus, Kara’s story was born.

Amidst a theme of worldly success, I was a bit hesitant writing about such a topic as domestic violence.

As someone who hasn’t experienced domestic violence firsthand (but know women who have), I tried to be sensitive to the horror that many women endure in their daily lives. I didn’t want to gloss over or trivialize Kara’s experience, because I know it is not something to be dealt with lightly. The pain and suffering victims endure is real, debilitating and can also contain an element of shame. I wanted to bring to light just how real this issue is, and I also wanted to portray a message of hope – to show there is a light that shines in the midst of our darkness.

Throughout her trials, I brought Kara to a point where she had nothing left but to receive the peace and love that can only be found in Jesus. And it is my prayer that you would come to know His peace and love as well.

I hope you enjoy ‘Dawn of Mercy’ and are encouraged by Kara (and Owen’s!) story.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1, KJV).

Was Today Really Necessary?

My dad was my greatest cheerleader when I shared with him at a young age that I wanted to be a writer. He told me to enjoy the good days and to embrace the not-so-good—even the awful—since they would provide a foundation for my writing, as well as my life.

This was tough advice to swallow on one particularly rough school day during my early teen years. Luckily, I arrived home to find him sitting on the front porch waiting for me so he could ask about my day. I joined him on the concrete landing and he spent a good hour listening while I vented about the trials and tribulations of being a thirteen-year-old in a cruel, cruel world. I imagined he had no idea what I was going through, since he couldn’t have possibly ever been as young as thirteen. Little did I know!

The next day, Dad came home with a small treasure for me–a poster with the most forlorn-looking bloodhound sitting in a washtub full of soap bubbles that had been dumped over his head. The caption read, “Was today really necessary?” Dad helped me mount the poster in a place of honor on my bedroom wall, and then we sat together and talked some more. That’s when I began to understand the power of adversity in shaping who I am as well as my life’s path.

Today, I use the trials of my life–both the small inconveniences that jab like bony fingers along my rib cage as well as the tsunamis that sweep through to wash away any semblance of sanity–to shape and mold my writing. Characters come alive when their story is infused with nuances of my personal trials. In daily tribulations, I find a never-ending fount of inspiration. The passion to write the next story burns continuously inside me, and with every detour that comes my way I know that the round-about will lead to another exciting chapter.

This is how my Potter’s House books were formed, especially Proven Love. I hope this hard-fought story gives hope to others, so they might find rays of sunshine through tough situations.

My dad succumbed to Non-Hodgkin lymphoma eighteen years ago, but his memory is alive and well in the poster that has traveled with me through the decades. It now holds a place of honor on the wall across from my office desk. Each time I glance up to read the caption, I smile and think, “Yes, today is really necessary and thank you, God, for allowing me another breath, another test…and another chapter.”

A shining star. A jaded heart. Will mercy prevail?

Kara Mercy always wanted to be an actress. At seventeen, her parents packed her bags and sent her to Los Angeles to live with her older sister and pursue her dream of acting. Poised on the precipice of opportunity, she was suddenly catapulted into another world, and life soon became a whirlwind of acting classes and auditions.

Alongside boyfriend Jamie Bradborne, an upcoming model/actor, Kara enjoys the perks and glamor of the celebrity life – parties, rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous, and trying to escape the paparazzi. But when she lands the role of her dreams, the fun-loving Jamie soon transforms into a mean-spirited abuser.

Dr Owen Martensen works in the emergency department of the UCLA Medical Center. Disillusioned and jaded by the superficiality of life in Los Angeles, he is reluctant to offer his time to care for a victim of domestic violence. After all, his compassion is waning and he has become desensitized to the world around him. Drug users, alcoholics, and shooting victims – he’s seen them all, and wants nothing more than for people to sort their own messes out. But when he lays eyes on the woman he’s been asked to help, his hardened heart starts to crumble, and he will do everything in his power to protect her.

Minnesota and much of the upper Midwestern portion of the United States recently went through a very deep freeze. From Tuesday January  29th until early morning on Friday, February 1, our temperatures didn’t rise above zero. (That’s Fahrenheit!) In my part of the state, temperatures dipped to 30 below, but other parts of the state were even colder! We were fortunate in that we have a warm home and cozy beds and plenty of food.

Others in the state aren’t so fortunate. Can you imagine being homeless and hungry in such weather? I certainly can’t.

But my hero and heroine in HOME ANOTHER WAY do understand. Both have a passion for helping the homeless, although their methods of helping are decidedly different.

Dani, a senator’s daughter, is an activist who brings attention to the homeless plight. Her actions get her arrested and she’s sentenced to a hundred hours of community service.

Austin, a convict’s son, was once homeless himself and feeds the homeless on a weekly basis.

That’s how the two meet.

That’s when the sparks begin to fly!

And together they learn what it really means to serve.
