Dear Readers,

We all deal with emotional pain in different ways. Sometimes the pain is so strong, so overwhelming, that we have to find an outlet. And the way we cope with pain isn’t always a healthy one. Let’s take the heroine of my new book, Heart Healed.

Miriam Lizarraga had a rich, glamorous life as a country star, and many people probably envied her. But very few of those people knew the deep pain she carried inside and the way she dealt with it. Miriam was a cutter. Sadly, even in Christian circles, cutting happens more often than we know, especially among teenagers.

The hero of Heart Healed, Philip Barlow, has anger management issues. Who didn’t have an outburst of anger now and then? But when those outbursts become uncontrollable, it can lead to bad consequences. And Miriam knows it all too well…

In my new book, I wanted to show we need to reach out to God because only God can heal our hearts. I also tried to say that we don’t need to push our pain deep inside. There’s help available. First and foremost, from the Lord. Then there are pastors, therapists, friends, relatives, neighbors… Get. Help. Now.

Blessings,

Alexa Verde
